Job Description: NP/ Interventional Cardiology BSN, Advanced practice degree as NP and licensed in the state of Delaware. BLS/ACLS certification through the AHA. Minimum 3 years experience in clinical nursing. Minimum 2 years experience functioning as a NP with Cardiac Cath and Invasive Cardiology patients. Strong clinical background, must have strong communication and motivational skills. Must have knowledge of pharmacology principles, dysrhythmia, ability to assess clinical situations and initiate appropriate treatment and interpret laboratory data, respond to emergency situations, coordinate work schedules to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. May require call coverage. Occasional ability to respond to and withstand crisis situations. This individual is a clinically competent Nurse Practitioner who will report to the Interventional Cardiology Medical Director and Executive Director of the Cardiac and Vascular Service Line. S/he must be able to effectively deliver care through demonstrated expertise to the Interventional Cardiology patient. The principle duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to : performing pre-procedure assessments, Histories and Physicals, education and counseling of patients on cardiac disease and treatments, responsible for tentative diagnosis, order and provide preliminary interpretation of lab studies, post procedure management of patient, assist with discharging of patient.

Primary Function This individual will work collaboratively with physicians, consultants, nurses and other health care practitioners, dedicating his/her specialized practice to patients in the CICU, inpatient floor and occasionally in the cardiac outpatient clinic. Our patient population ranges from newborns to young adults with congenital or acquired heart disease. We perform all of the complex cardiac repairs, including heart transplants, utilizing the full range of technical modalities such as ECMO/ECLS and ventricular assist devices, including the Berlin Heart, Thoratec and implantable Heart ware models. We also provide nitric oxide and continuous renal replacement when indicated. Essential Responsiblities Obtain medical history, perform physical exam, and order and interpret laboratory data on all patients being admitted to the Nemours Cardiac Center. Assist the physician staff of the Nemours Cardiac Center to provide inpatient and outpatient care services. Assist the Cardiac Staff in the pre-operative preparation and post-operative care of surgical patients. Coordinate ongoing overall patient care with physician staff, other nurse practitioners and physician assistants, nursing staff and other ancillary care providers to ensure treatment plans are implemented. Interact with families of the patients on the cardiac service, embracing our family-centered focus. Write a daily progress note on inpatients, collate inpatient records and perform discharge summaries, utilizing the electronic medical record. Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives. Attend departmental patient care conferences. Position Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Master of Science in Nursing. 5 years related clinical experience. Licensure, Registrations or Certificates Must have or be eligible for registered nurse in the state of Delaware. Must have or be eligible for Advanced Practice Nurse License in the state of Delaware with prescriptive authority. This position is full-time, benefited, 60 hours every two weeks, with 2 out of 6 weekends, one summer and one winter holiday. Develop and implement an infrastructure supportive of productive and efficient participation in NCI-funded Cancer Care Delivery Research (CCDR) for the Nemours NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). Assist in the development and implementation of CCDR infrastructure, protocols, guidelines and outcome reporting within the Nemours enterprise. Assist in the implementation of Information Technology (IT) tools supportive of all NCORP activities, but with a focus on CCDR. Collaborate with the Health Informatics team to develop reporting tools specific to CCDR outcome analysis. Build CCDR teams at all Nemours NCORP locations. Define and implement CCDR policies and procedures for evaluating feasibility of CCDR participation at all component sites. Identify and address any potential challenges with the implementation of CCDR studies. Actively screen all patients, including underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities, as well as underserved socioeconomic groups, for participation in CCDR studies. Ensure protocol compliance and submission of patient data to research organizations. Assist in the development and implementation of culturally appropriate educational materials and consents, and incorporate metrics and real-time tracking of patient accrual. Actively participate in NCORP training activities and Nemours quality initiatives. Attendance at weekly huddles, committees and monthly meetings. Maintain CCDR trial inventory and assist in the development of screening and enrollment tools to maximize participation in CCDR trials. Collaborate with the NCORP Administrator in the development of NCORP CCDR reports. Develop and maintain relationships with NCI Research Bases, as well as local community partners, as needed. Regular attendance required. Requirements Bachelors's degree in Nursing. Valid Delaware Nursing license. Spanish speaking preferred. In the Benefited Resource Pool, you will be required to work 60 hours every 2 weeks, 2 weekends out of 6-week schedule, one winter and one major summer holiday (evening/day). Primary responsibilities include coordinating, implementing and completing clinical research studies or clinical trials by assisting with IRB submissions; assisting in regulatory document preparation and collection; in-servicing research teams; recruiting study participants; obtaining parental permission/assent; educating parents/participants; scheduling and conducting study procedures; collecting and recording study data; maintaining study records; interfacing with study sponsors; and participation in study sponsor monitoring visits.   Candidate must possess minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing. Clinical research trial experience is required. Experience with pediatric pulmonary and asthma research is preferable. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides and supervises care guided by the Professional Code of Ethics for Nurses. Ensures assessments, recommendations and actions are provided in an ethical manner. Serves as patient advocate, maintaining an atmosphere of family-centered care and positively influencing consumer satisfaction. Approaches patient care team interactions with fairness, consistency and objectivity, and supportive of a culture that enhances nursing performance, job satisfaction and patient care team retention. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists in systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice: Participates on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical practice. Utilizing the results of quality-of-care data, assists in implementing changes in clinical practice. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practice guidelines to improve quality of care. Enures compliance with Hospital and departmental dashboard goals. Participates in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation. The Assistant Nurse Manager demonstrates knowledge of current professional practice standards, laws and regulations that affect the care of children and families: Evaluates his/her own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations. Seeks constructive feedback regarding own clinical practice. Maintains proficiency and shares knowledge of developmental variances of patients across the life span. Acquires and shares knowledge and skills appropriate to the care of children, families, adults and the practice setting. Recognizes and identifies own learning needs and responsibility for continual development; strives to increase knowledge and skills through continuing education. The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues and other health care providers: Collaborates with Nurse Manager to evaluate, maintain and improve patient care team performance. Supports the orientation process and continuing education of patient care team by partnering with the Nurse Manager, Nursing Education and Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs). Mentors patient care team. Participates in the interview and selection process of patient care team members for the patient care unit. In collaboration with Nurse Manager, provides counseling to improve patient care team members' performance. Identifies clinical and educational needs of the patient care team. Assesses patient care team strengths and weaknesses. Assists the patient care team members in identifying goals for professional growth and encourages the care team to meet these goals. Supports professional nurses' participation in the Shared Governance Council structure. The Assistant Nurse Manager works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate the management of patient care: Collaborates with child, family and other health care providers in providing patient care. Promotes open and effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications. The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to nursing and pediatric health care through the use of research methods and findings: Participates in developing evidence-based practice by participating in and involving the patient care team in evaluative research activities. Facilitates the dissemination of research findings and integration of evidence-based guidelines into clinical practice. Maintains current knowledge of evidence-based practice by reading professional literature and searching appropriate national databases. The Assistant Nurse Manager adheres to budgetary plans: Ensures safety, effectiveness, quality and cost in planning and delivering patient care. Assists Nurse Manager in developing budget and budget compliance. Identifies and secures resources as necessary to maintain quality patient care. Completes payroll biweekly if deemed appropriate. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager in providing a professional work environment: Assumes management responsibilities in absence of and as directed by Nurse Manager. Actively participates in departmental activities and plan for promoting patient/family and employee satisfaction. Monitors documentation of daily staffing; monitors documentation of admissions, discharges and transfers. Monitors staffing schedules. Works with staffing coordinator and/or clinical nursing supervisor to ensure adequate staffing to meet patient care needs. May authorize overtime or scheduling changes to fill shifts as necessary. Effectively communicates unit issues and trends to co-workers and management team. Facilitates and/or coordinates patient care team meetings, agendas and minutes. Serves as Clinical Nursing Supervisor on holidays on a rotational basis as needed. Primary Responsibilities The Registered Nurse position is a multi-functional role that includes triage telephone duties and direct patient care duties. Telephone Triage The Telephone Triage role serves as the point of contact for incoming calls, which includes screening, documenting and prioritizing calls; transferring messages appropriately to and from patients/providers; and providing pertinent information to patients. These duties include, but are not limited to: Answering calls “live” coming into the telephone triage nurse unit from Nemours patients and families. Ascertaining reason for call and quickly escalating to the physician when appropriate. Scheduling appointments according to the patient’s needs. Monitoring Audix voice mailbox, retrieving information and entering data into electronic medical record. Ensuring documentation of incoming calls is complete and accurate to ensure timely call-back by nurses. Performing routine filing and faxing of documents; updating and distributing information on physician on-call schedules. Direct Patient Care Duties The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in the primary care pediatrics practices as directed by providers. The position is responsible for patient flow and assisting providers as necessary with examination, procedures and administration of immunizations that are adapted to the patient's development stage. These duties include, but are not limited to: Performing patient assessments. Performing and documenting patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, and chief complaint). Assisting providers with procedures, including, but not limited to, suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, minor surgical procedures, gynecological exams and catheterizations. Performing phlebotomy, via venipuncture or capillary techniques, to obtain blood specimens. Transcribing, collecting, labeling and arranging transport for lab specimens. Performing back office laboratory tests. Administering immunizations, oral and/or injectable medications. Administering PPD and interpreting results. Ordering and stocking appropriate inventory of medical-surgical supplies for lab and exam rooms. Providing age- and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. Monitoring patient flow, including preparing patients and rooms for physicals and sick visits. Requirements BSN preferred. Must have or be eligible for DE nursing license. Pediatric office nurse experience required. Phone triage experience preferred. CPR certification with the American Heart Association. Job Description: Nurse, RN, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 7pm-7am (Critical Care, PICU, Nights) Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse - PICU to join our team in Wilmington, DE. The opening is 72 hours every two weeks, 7pm-7am. Every third weekend with holiday rotation. Must be an experienced nurse; critical care experience preferred. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is a 22-bed unit. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, sampling of arterial blood gases, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure and intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Must be an experienced pediatric nurse. Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Experience in pediatric critical care nursing preferred. Have a current registration or be eligible for Delaware State Board of Nursing Licensure. Must be CPR-certified by the American Heart Association. Must be flexible to work on different units during their shift. We are primarily looking for evening shift, and night shift with weekend coverage at this time. Limited day shifts are available. Eligibility Graduates of accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Minimum of 3-years pertinent acute pediatric medical/surgical nursing experience or pediatric critical care nursing experience. Current Delaware licensure. Required certification. Internal applicants must have worked at least 1 year in there current position and been performing in a satisfactory manner during that time period. Requirements Successful completion of the Department of Nursing Orientation. Demonstrates a competency-based practice as defined by the Department of Nursing, in areas of assignment. Staffing commitment per program guidelines Will be available to work one winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) and one summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day). The team operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Team consists of two team members, one of which is an RN. Direct medical control is supplied by board-certified pediatric intensivists. The majority of patients transported are under two years of age with principal admitting diagnoses of respiratory illness and neurological disorders. Trauma patients with both single-extremity and multi-system injuries are also served. The team uses specially-designed equipment to maintain or exceed the level of care provided by referring facilities, including multi-parameter vital-sign monitors, compact infusion pumps and defibrillator/external pacemakers. Advanced procedures performed by PTT staff include vascular access (intravenous and intraosseous), endotracheal intubation, chest decompression and advanced airway management. The PTT transports on average four patients daily with little seasonal variation in census. Ninety percent of patients are transported by ambulance; the remaining patients are flown by helicopter. Patient placement includes specialty units such as pediatric intensive care, cardiac intensive care, burn, emergency and surgical units, as well as general pediatric floors. In addition to performing inter-hospital transports, PTT staff assist with patient care in the PICU, NICU and ER, and serve as resources to other nursing units within the hospital. Requirements Looking for experienced nurses.   Must have critical care experience. Transport and pediatric critical care experience preferred. Bachelor's in Nursing preferred. Bilingual preferred. Must maintain or be eligible for licensure in the states of DE, PA and NJ. The Nemours Cardiac Center (NCC) provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with cardiac, thoracic and vascular disease. The Cardiac Center provides patient care, performs research, and educates and trains health care professionals consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Nemours Foundation. Essential Responsibilities: Assesses and documents initial and ongoing patient needs and problems. Formulates nursing plan based on patient needs and problems, and indicates plan on the patient care plan. Develops realistic and appropriate long- and short-term goals based on patient/family needs. Implements patient plan of care. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care, and modifies care plan accordingly. Assists patient and family in discharge planning so that problems and care needs are anticipated and met. Serves as an advocate for patient and family in working with other members of the health care team. Provides safe and appropriate nursing care through adherence to Nursing Department standards. A registered nurse responsible and accountable for assessing, planning and providing care to assigned patients. Education, Training and Experience Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
