Resident caregiver jobs will continue to grow in numbers. The National Care Planning Council says that there is a growing trend towards fewer available caregivers trying to support a rapidly growing number of people needing care. This trend will require the use of more paid or formal caregivers.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and U.S. Department of Labor have issued a report saying that by 2050, the number of individuals using paid long-term care services in any setting (e.g., at home, residential care such as assisted living, or skilled nursing facilities) will likely double from the 13 million using services in 2000, to 27 million people. This estimate is influenced by growth in the population of older people in need of care. That doubling of the long-term care patient population will create many more resident caregiver employment opportunities now and in the future.

The ADVANCE Healthcare job board lists resident caregiver jobs in all LTC settings.
