You’ve been a successful pharmacist for a few years now. You have mastered the art of filling prescriptions, can handle disgruntled customers and work well with the rest of your team. You are ready to take the next step: management. But what sorts of job duties do pharmacy manager jobs entail?
Pharmacy managers, like other pharmacists, fill prescriptions. This includes tasks like verifying details with physicians, dealing with insurance companies and interacting with patients. They may give patients instructions regarding when and how to take medicine, provide information about side effects and ensure the prescription will not interact with other medication the patient is taking.
However, pharmacy manager jobs involve additional duties. Pharmacy managers oversee the pharmacy team, making sure their licenses are up-to-date and that the pharmacy is in compliance with laws and regulations. They must also monitor pharmacists and ensure they are administering prescriptions properly.
In order to become a pharmacy manager, candidates need a PharmD. and a few years of experience working as a pharmacist. Check out ADVANCE Healthcare Jobs to find pharmacy manager jobs in your area.
