Pharmaceutical sales jobs provide prescription drug samples and information to physicians. They spend their days in the field, meeting with physicians and explaining information about the latest prescription drugs.

In general, pharmaceutical sales reps are either assigned a particular drug to sell, or sell multiple drugs in a specific region. In order to execute their jobs successfully, pharmaceutical sales reps must be able to convey medical information in a clear and concise way. They must be experts regarding all aspects of the drugs they sell.

There are plenty of perks to being a pharmaceutical sales representative. They often have a company car, and attend company sponsored trips and events. They have more earning potential than most sales jobs and enjoy frequent bonuses.

However, pharmaceutical sales jobs aren’t all fun and games. Most reps spend a lot of time waiting in physicians’ offices and some physicians may refuse to see a sales representative. Pharmaceutical sales reps need plenty of patience to succeed in this environment. There is a lot of travel involved and sales goals can be stressful, so a tenacious attitude is needed to succeed.
