Nurses who specialize in patient care are bedside nurses who see to all aspects of the patient during his stay. They do typical nursing duties, but still provide basic care, including admitting patients, taking vitals, bathing, assisting with feeding, and collecting lab specimens as needed.

Patient care RN jobs take a personal approach to nursing. In addition to being the go-to nurse for all patient needs, they are also accessible to the patient and patient’s family to answer questions and supply information. Their responsibilities are less administrative and more hands-on.

To qualify for patient care nursing jobs, you must be an RN. There are many fields in which patient care nurses can work, including ambulatory care, critical care, trauma, home health care and others. Patient care nurses must have excellent interpersonal skills and a great bedside manner. They must also be able to wear multiple hats and move quickly because their duties are extensive.
