Patient account representatives are responsible for collecting payment from patients after they have received medical services. They are employed at all types of medical facilities from hospitals to clinics to private practices.

Strong communication skills are a vital quality for candidates seeking patient account representative jobs. They communicate with a variety of people on a daily basis, including patients and insurance companies. They have to be able to understand medical terminology and be able to explain in general terms to help patients understand their services and costs.
