Job Description: Faculty position in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science   The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science at East Carolina University is seeking candidates for a fixed-term, full-time (12 month) faculty member for a well-established, NAACLS-accredited, 2+2 B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science program. The position is available as early as July 1, 2015.   Required qualifications include: ASCP or other nationally recognized certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Medical Technologist (MT), minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field, expertise/experience in microbiology, mycology, parasitology, and molecular diagnostics. Required responsibilities are teaching courses in microbiology, mycology, parasitology, and molecular diagnostics, oversight of microbiology clinical rotations, supervision of senior research projects, and additional duties/responsibilities as assigned by the chair.   Preferred qualifications include specialist certification, teaching experience, and/or overall expertise in laboratory science.   The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science is in the College of Allied Health Sciences which graduates the most allied health students in the state. The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science is housed in a state of the art building that is adjacent to the Health Sciences Library. The department has two spacious, well-equipped teaching laboratories, a preparation laboratory, a research laboratory, and a student media room. The department graduates up to 16 students annually.   The College of Allied Health Sciences is an integral part of a vibrant medical campus including the Brody School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, the College of Nursing, the East Carolina Heart Institute, and Vidant Medical Center which is the regional hospital and rehabilitation center that serves 29 counties. Reports and interprets laboratory test results. Advises and consults with the Medical Staff, nursing staff, and laboratory staff. Collects blood specimens for analysis. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skill in performing capillary and venipuncture collections. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related science, which includes a one-year internship in an approved clinical laboratory required. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Current and valid Medical Technologist or equivalent certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathology or other equivalent certifying agency required, within 6 months of hire.

Job Description: UPPER CONNECTICUT VALLEY HOSPITAL COMPASSIONATE HEALTHCARE...CLOSE TO HOME MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST OR MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN FULL-TIME   Primary responsibilities involve the testing of body fluids and other specimen samples submitted to the Laboratory for analysis.  Medical Technologist (ASCP, AMT or equivalent) preferred; or Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT or equivalent).  Medical Technologist must possess a Bachelor of Science degree that meets the academic requirements of the ASCP Board Registry or academic experience by recognized accrediting agencies and is certified within one year of hire by either AMT, ISCLT, HHS, or NCA in the Laboratory Technologist category.  Medical Laboratory Technician must possess an Associate’s degree that meets the academic requirements of the ASCP Board Registry or academic experience by recognized accrediting agencies and is certified within one year of hire by either  AMT, ISCLT, HHS, or NCA in the Laboratory Technologist category.  Generalist Technologist/Technician preferred.  Computer literacy and Laboratory Information Systems experience desirable.  A pleasant demeanor, good patient manner and the ability to communicate with patients is essential.  Candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Shares call, weekend, and holiday coverage.
