Job Description: Med Tech I Performs clinical laboratory procedures in one or more of the following Laboratory sections: Blood Bank/Serology, Hematology/ Coagulation/Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Microbiology. Assists in supervision of the automated section of the Laboratory. Requirements: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field; Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), ASCP registered, eligible, or equivalent. Eligibility requirements of a Laboratory Technician plus at least three years full-time equivalent acceptable work experience, not limited to Northwest Hospital Center; 3-5 years experience; Clinical laboratory equipment; Basic computer skills; MLT (ASCP) preferred.

Job Description: Medical Technologist I Shift: Nights Hours: Flexible Job Details: High School Diploma/GED 1 - 3 years of experience required General Summary:  Performs routine and specialized procedures.  Reviews and approves clinical test results for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients, in accordance with established protocol for laboratory performing high complexity procedures as defined by standards of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act 1988.  Supports Mission of CHE Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health. Minimum Requirements:  Either (A) Current or eligible ASCP, AMT or NCA certification as Medical Technologist desirable, but not necessary, with documented training and education; previously certified Medical Technologists, who met credentialing requirements by Department of Health Education and Welfare (DHEW certified MT), considered.  Or (B) Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology), or biological, chemical or other related science, and satisfactory completion of clinical laboratory educational rotation.  Or (C) Baccalaureate Degree from regionally accredited college or university, including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics, and successful completion of NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program.  Or (D) Baccalaureate Degree from regionally accredited college or university, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science with one semester in microbiology, 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry, one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, and one year of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology and/or clinical microscopy within the last ten years; clinical rotations or professional experience must be under supervision of pathologist certified by American Board of Pathology, or appropriately board certified medical scientist and certified medical technologist.  And (E) New graduate to five years experience in clinical laboratory setting; general knowledge of laboratory methodologies, interpretation of results, and quality assurance; completed accredited internship in all areas of laboratory for which responsible, or documented and traceable on-the-job training in accredited laboratory; ability to work in harmony with personnel to build team driven customer service; demonstrated basic computer literacy; demonstrated comprehension, skill and command of oral and written English language. Job Description: CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST   Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist accurately performs all clinical laboratory testing including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, microscopy, microbiology and transfusion services. Tests are performed using a variety of examination and analytical methods on materials derived from the human body for the purpose of providing information for diagnosis, treatment and/or health assessment, or prevention of disease, in patients of all ages. Reports results substantiated by the proper use of appropriate quality control systems; actively participates in proficiency testing.  The Clinical Laboratory Scientist must be able to work independently as a generalist and  reports to the Clinical Laboratory Manager.   Minimum Position Qualifications Required: Education: Bachelor of Science degree in biology or equivalent educational training. One year of internship in a program approved by the State of California. Experience: One year experience in a hospital setting is preferred. Knowledge:  Demonstrates knowledge of accepted clinical laboratory practices and procedures including proper procurement of specimens, handling and disposing of potentially infectious material, and familiarity with Californialaw relating to the practice of laboratory science. Special Skills/Equipment:  Demonstrates analytical problem-solving skills. Experience working in a variety of technical settings and working knowledge of a laboratory information system is preferred. Licenses/Certificates: Must possess a valid California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
