Job Description: Faculty position in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science   The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science at East Carolina University is seeking candidates for a fixed-term, full-time (12 month) faculty member for a well-established, NAACLS-accredited, 2+2 B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science program. The position is available as early as July 1, 2015.   Required qualifications include: ASCP or other nationally recognized certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Medical Technologist (MT), minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field, expertise/experience in microbiology, mycology, parasitology, and molecular diagnostics. Required responsibilities are teaching courses in microbiology, mycology, parasitology, and molecular diagnostics, oversight of microbiology clinical rotations, supervision of senior research projects, and additional duties/responsibilities as assigned by the chair.   Preferred qualifications include specialist certification, teaching experience, and/or overall expertise in laboratory science.   The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science is in the College of Allied Health Sciences which graduates the most allied health students in the state. The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science is housed in a state of the art building that is adjacent to the Health Sciences Library. The department has two spacious, well-equipped teaching laboratories, a preparation laboratory, a research laboratory, and a student media room. The department graduates up to 16 students annually.   The College of Allied Health Sciences is an integral part of a vibrant medical campus including the Brody School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, the College of Nursing, the East Carolina Heart Institute, and Vidant Medical Center which is the regional hospital and rehabilitation center that serves 29 counties.
