This position provides internal coding expertise to other hospital staff.   The Ideal Candidate possesses: •             Minimum of one-two years of coding (acute, clinic and professional fee), auditing and abstracting information from patient medical records •             Detailed knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding •             Working knowledge of EM level coding •             ICD-CM and CPT classification coding systems and DRG •             Experience coding for a physician group or practice (Pro-fee) •             Familiarity with billing processing NCCI edits •             Experience coding for a physician group or practice (Pro-fee) •             Experience reviewing and analyzing UB-04 and 1500 forms and interpreting billing edits •             Familiarity with billing processing NCCI edits •             Abstract pertinent information from medical records •             Knowledge of medical terminology •             The ability to communicate with providers regarding clinical documentation and coding guidelines •             Extensive experience using medical records software applications. •             Excellent communication skills   Requires possession of a valid certificate as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and one year of auditing, assembling, abstracting and coding information from patient medical records.   To learn more about the position and to apply online, please visit our website at http://jobs.smcgov.org. Job Description: MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST  FULL - TIME   Primary responsibilities involve the testing of body fluids and other specimen samples submitted to the Laboratory for analysis.  Medical Technologist (ASCP, AMT or equivalent) preferred; or Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT or equivalent).  Medical Technologist must possess a Bachelor of Science degree that meets the academic requirements of the Board Registry or academic experience accepted by recognized accrediting agencies and is certified within one year of hire by either ASCP, AMT, ISCLT, HHS, or NCA in the Laboratory Technologist category.  Medical Laboratory Technician must possess an Associate’s degree that meets the academic requirements of the Board Registry or academic experience accepted by recognized accrediting agencies and is certified within one year of hire by either  ASCP, AMT, ISCLT, HHS, or NCA in the Laboratory Technologist category.  Generalist Technologist/Technician preferred.  Computer literacy and Laboratory Information Systems experience desirable.  A pleasant demeanor, good patient manner and the ability to communicate with patients is essential.  Candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
