Medical laboratory scientists analyze bodily fluids such as blood, urine, sputum, stool, cerebrospinal fluid, peritoneal fluid, pericardial fluid and others to determine the presence, extent or absence of disease.

By performing chemical, hematological, immunologic, microscopic and bacteriological diagnostic tests, medical laboratory scientists can diagnose diseases. Approximately 70% of a patient’s medical record is made up of data provided by medical laboratory scientists, so their work is critical to the treatment, management and prevention of diseases as well as the overall wellbeing of patients.

To qualify for medical laboratory scientist jobs, candidates need a BS or MS from an accredited program in addition to passing the national certification exam.  Lab scientists can work in a variety of medical facilities, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, research facilities, public health agencies, forensic labs, biotechnology labs and more.

If you’re looking for medical laboratory scientist jobs, you’ve come to the right place. At ADVANCE Healthcare Jobs, you can search for thousands of healthcare jobs all over the country. You may also want to search for medical technologist, clinical scientist or clinical laboratory technologist positions as well, as they are often interchangeable with medical laboratory scientist positions.
