Job Description:   We have several laboratory opportunities within the Montefiore Health System.  At Montefiore Mount Vernon, we have a FT- Night Clinical Laboratory Technologist position. At Montefiore New Rochelle, we have FT and Per Diem Clinical Laboratory Technologists available. We have DAY and EVENINGS SHIFTS available at Montefiore New Rochelle.  All of these positions are CLT - Generalist where you work in all labs. Our labs consist of Hematology, Bloodbank, Coagulation, Chemistry, Microbiology and Urinanalysis.   This individual will provide accurate, timely, and cost effective laboratory testing of patient samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. S/He will perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic and microscopic tests. They will analyze samples for chemical content or a chemical reaction and determines concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels.   S/He types and cross matches blood samples for transfusions. Compiles with laboratory and hospital's safety procedures. S/He will identify real or potential problems and situations or equipment failures, attempt to resolve within area of specialty or knowledge, and refers complex issues to appropriate source. Will also complete records, reports and other statistical data as required.   The individual will communicate appropriately with clients, patients, physicians, co-workers and the general public. S/He promotes and adheres to the elements and provisions of the Montefiore compliance program, including the annual training requirement. S/He may be assigned other duties at the discretion of the Lab Manager/or Supervisor.   Qualifications:  Must have a current license and registration from NYS as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited school in Clinical Lab Technology, Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry. ASCP certification preferred. Job Description: Supervisor Blood Bank Purpose of Position: To supervise and oversee all aspects of Blood Bank laboratory operations throughout Cape Cod Hospital Laboratory and Cape Cod Healthcare Laboratory managers keep labs organized and running. In these positions, workers oversee laboratory staff and operations. Managerial responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of test results, budgeting, and other administrative tasks.

However, those seeking laboratory manager jobs should have an aptitude for science and technology. Even though they are in management, they still work with medical equipment and computers. In addition to performing laboratory tests and dealing with hazardous materials themselves, lab managers must also ensure accuracy among their team. They may even develop their own test procedures to ensure quality results across the board, so excellent attention to detail is a requirement for laboratory manager jobs.

To become a lab manager, candidates need at least a bachelor’s degree, but a master’s is required for many positions. Recommended programs of study include microbiology, medical technology, public health administration or a related field.
