Because they act as liaisons between patients, healthcare providers and insurance companies, intake coordinators are an integral part of a patient’s overall experience. Through managing referrals, confirming payer coverage and gathering and verifying patient information, intake coordinator jobs offer a distinct insight into the healthcare world.

For a patient, nothing is more frustrating than a repetitive and difficult admission and discharge process. While the specific duties vary depending on the facility, intake coordinators help provide a smooth transition during the treatment process, making the lives of everyone from client services managers to field nurses easier. Intake coordinator positions are unique because they allow the coordinator to develop a personal relationship with patients, referral sources and other members of the healthcare community without necessarily requiring special degrees or certification.

Educational requirements for intake coordinator jobs can vary significantly from employer to employer. Some require a four-year degree, some require a master’s degree, and others will accept extensive intake experience in lieu of a degree. No matter what your education or experience level, ADVANCE Healthcare Jobs can help you find the job you’ve always wanted. Attend an informational webinar, check out an in-person or online job fair, or stay up to date with articles and blogs about how to find success—and a new job—in your field.
