Infection control manger jobs are supervisory positions in place to prevent patient infections from spreading in a medical facility. These experienced nurses are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating infection control activities.
In this position, nurses instruct staff members on proper sanitation rules and procedures and ensure the entire facility is in compliance. Infection control managers also examine patient bacteria to identify communicable infections. Whenever an infection or disease is found, these nurses are in charge of enacting infection prevention actions and notifying local Centers for Disease Control.
In order to qualify for infection control manager jobs, candidates need to be certified RNs with at least a bachelor’s degree, although master’s degrees are often preferred. They should have relevant experience working as staff nurses in infection control before applying for a managerial position.
