According to Rob Bearden, CEO of Hortonworks, data analysts are "one of the [most] sought-after positions.” Every company produces data, and all data can be analyzed to help companies make better business decisions.

Companies that have qualified professionals working in data analyst jobs can save a ton of money. Data analysts interpret numbers to figure out which actions will cut costs and what decisions could increase funds.

Candidates seeking data analyst jobs should have strong math and computer skills. They must be detail-oriented and able to spot patterns in statistical evidence. It is important to have strong communication skills, too, because data analysts must present complex ideas to top company officials.

Bearden claims, “It's probably the biggest imbalance of supply and demand that I've ever seen in my career… The talent pool is, at best, probably 20 percent of the demand,” so qualified candidates should have no trouble finding a job. In order to qualify for positions, you will need at least a bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, computer science or a related field. A few schools have started offering programs that focus on big data, which are geared specifically toward preparing students for data analyst positions.

Combine your data analysis knowledge with the booming field of healthcare here at ADVANCE Healthcare Jobs. Check out our job board to find data analyst positions in healthcare all over the country. See what’s available in your area today!
