Clinical team leader jobs are managerial positions responsible for leading a department or facility. Their overall goal is to ensure every patient receives quality care.

Depending on the facility in which they work, clinical team leaders may have varying duties. In general, they are responsible for ensuring a department or facility delivers optimal care in an efficient and effective manner. Clinical team leaders work closely with their staff, scheduling, assessing and training them, to ensure top care is given.

Although a large part of clinical team leader jobs are behind-the-scenes, they do interact with patients. They may monitor high-risk patients and will answer questions, provide referrals and deliver care.

A clinical team leader’s job is never done, because they are always looking for ways to improve their department or facility. Requirements will vary depending on the employer, but an advanced post-secondary education in a healthcare-related major is recommended. Prior experience in the healthcare field can also give candidates a competitive edge.
