Chief nursing officers (CNOs) are the highest ranking administrative nurses in a healthcare facility. Possessing a combination of practical nursing, managerial and business experience, these individuals both lead the nursing team and promote profitability for their organization.

As a leader within their facility, CNOs play a vital role in ensuring that consistently high standards of care are met. They oversee the nursing staff throughout the organization, acting as a resource for their colleagues and promoting a collaborative environment.

Because CNOs are responsible for all nurses within the organization, CNO jobs require individuals with knowledge of multiple nursing fields and a variety of patient populations. They should be able to develop policies and procedures to improve services for patients while also initiating strategies to promote recruitment and retention.

To qualify for CNO positions, candidates need at least an MSN or master’s degree in another health or business-related field, although a doctorate in nursing is often preferred. Additional requirements include a national certification in nursing management and prior experience in a healthcare supervisory role.

If you’re looking for CNO jobs, you’ve come to the right place. ADVANCE Healthcare Jobs contains thousands of open positions in healthcare all across the country. Search by job title, location or employer to start applying for jobs today!
