Chief medical officers are the physicians in charge of a hospital or other medical practice. They are highly experienced physicians with proven leadership experience.

Although chief medical officers do not typically provide direct patient care, they still need to have clinical experience. Because they oversee all doctors in a facility, chief medical officers must train new doctors and instruct physicians on how to care for patients, particularly those with complicated medical issues. Before qualifying for chief medical officer jobs, doctors need significant clinical experience.

Previous managerial experience is also required for candidates seeking chief medical officer jobs. In order to ensure patients receive top quality care, chief medical officers need to be strong leaders. They will act as a liaison between doctors and executives, and should be able to communicate with both.

Additional job duties include evaluating care, analyzing facility policies and procedures to improve its performance, ensuring employees are in compliance with all rules and regulations, hiring medical directors and determining employee’s salaries, among others.

If you have the experience and know-how to compete for chief medical officer positions, you can find them right here, right now on AVANCE Healthcare Jobs. You can upload up to 5 versions of your resume and cover letter, making customization a breeze. Get started today!
