Job Description: Echocardiographer (Echo Tech), FT Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center and the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, located in the heart of Denver, Colorado, serves as a regional tertiary referral center for a multi-state area. We feature over 80 specialties and 1,000 specialists and primary care physicians. For over 125 years, we have been meeting the healthcare needs of patients and their families from across the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains, and from around the world. Licensed for 680 beds, P/SL is the largest hospital in Colorado. Position Summary\:   This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  The Echocardiographer performs echocardiograms, stress tests and other diagnostic tests and procedures in accordance with established procedures for patients from adolescent through geriatric. Responsible for maintaining expert technical and patient care skills and provide quality diagnostic results. Responsible for performance improvement activities, supply/inventory management, data and charge entry data preparation for physician interpretation. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Licensure/Certification/Registration\:  BCLS. Registered Adult Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or registry eligible within one year of date of hire required. Registered Pediatric Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or registry eligible within one year of date of hire preferred. CCI may be considered. Education\:  Successful completion of an AMA/ACCA approved training program. Experience\:   Minimum one year recent hospital or clinical experience preferred. Adult experience required. Pediatric experience preferred. Special Qualifications\:   Knowledge and skills in all areas of echocardiography. Basic knowledge of 12 lead EKG interpretations, basic computer skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all customers. Provides safe care displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Demonstrates good organizational and technical skills. Medical terminology. Basic keyboard and computer skills. Degree of supervision required\:   Involves general guidance and direction by the Director of Cardiac Testing/Clinical Coordinator. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

The Echo Sonographer performs complete transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiogram studies, including 2- and 3-dimensional imaging, M-mode and doppler echocardiography procedures. Complete echocardiographic examinations on inpatients and outpatients, including 2D, M-Mode and doppler studied: Transthoracic Transesophageal Echocardiogram studies on inpatients and outpatients, as needed. Preparation of patients for studies and assistance of patients/families in understanding procedures. Entering of preliminary test results into computer; presentation of preliminary results to physician for interpretation. Maintenance of accurate patient log and database. Travel required to satellite offices, as needed. Wilmington will be home office. Requirements Graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program. Four years of related work experience required. Minimum of 2 years pediatric echo experience required. License, Registration or Certification RDMS or RCVT certification preferred. BCLS certification is required.
