Job Description: Echocardiographer PRN Kingwood Medical Center - Kingwood, Texas   Echo Cardio Tech       The Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL) services are provided in four fully equipped CCL Suites and Cardiac Cath Lab Recovery (CCL-RR) by and under the direction of cardiologists and radiologists credentialed to perform diagnostic and/or interventional cardiovascular, electrophysiology, and radiology procedures.  Services are provided by outstanding clinicians and staff to both inpatients and outpatients experiencing a wide range of disease processes including those that are acute and life-threatening to those that are planned diagnostic studies.  The patients served range in age from late adolescence to geriatrics.  Types of patients requiring care (diagnostic and therapeutic modalities)\: Diagnostic & Interventional Cardiology Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology Diagnostic & Interventional Neuro-radiology Diagnostic & Interventional Electrophysiology and Device Implantation     Kingwood Medical Center is currently looking for an Echo Cardio Tech.   Responsibilities\: The CardioVascular Technologist provides timely and accurate non-invasive cardiac ultrasound testing and transesophageal echo studies as required by KWMC Cardiology Department approved protocols and procedures.  The Technologist operates under the guidelines established by this institution, the equipment manufacturer and/or safety guidelines established by the Texas Department of Health.  Prepares patient and room; orders supplies; cleans and maintains equipment, provides excellent customer services with the utmost professional and caring attitude.  Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. Qualifications\: Graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound school or several years on the job training with an in-depth knowledge of the coronary and vascular anatomy. One year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RCDS) from  American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or eligible; OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International or eligible required Current BLS from the American Heart Association required

This position also assists the physician with obtaining images during Transesophageal Echo's. This position shows sound knowledge and proficiency in the use of diagnostic ultrasound and sonography techniques and equipment (both fixed and mobile) to assist in the diagnosis of patient disorders. Prioritizes and organizes patient flow to ensure best utilization of time. Is given general guidance and is expected to function with initiative and sound judgment to provide quality services. Demonstrate effective safety practices. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and Medical Staff. Performs diagnostic ultrasound images on patient in all settings including intensive care areas. 2. Responsible for care or equipment including cleaning of Transesophageal Echo probe. 3. Performs diagnostic ultrasound images on adult and Geriatric patients, including TEEs. 4. Performs clerical functions that are related to procedures. 5. Obtain images of cardiac anatomy, and quantitative calculations for interpretation. 6. Communicates finding to the physicians interpreting the study through echo worksheet. 7. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered. 8. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. 9. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm. 10. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements. 11. Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety. 12. Minimum of 2 years pediatric echo experience required. License, Registration or Certification RDMS or RCVT certification preferred. BCLS certification is required.
