Attending physicians supervise fellows, residents and other medical students in hospitals and clinics. Because they oversee physicians in training, attending physicians may not always provide direct patient treatment. However, attending physicians are in charge of directing patient care, and are ultimately responsible for their patients’ outcomes.

Even though attending physicians may not always provide direct patient care, they must visit each of their patients every day. Additional duties include going over treatment plans with residents, documenting patient management and providing direct care when needed. In some instances, attending physician jobs may require bedside teaching. In these cases, physicians may conduct rounds with residents, interns and other students.

Like other doctors, attending physicians go through a rigorous training process. They must graduate from residency programs, which, depending on specialty, may last anywhere from three to eight years. Candidates seeking attending physician jobs can expect to work 60 or more hours each week.

Looking for attending physician employment? You’ve come to the right place. At ADVANCE Healthcare Jobs, we list thousands of open healthcare positions all over the country. Search by job title, employer or location to find your dream job today!
