About the Opportunity

A premier Skilled Nursing Facility on Long Island is looking for a per diem Physical Therapist (PT) to join their teams! The PT will work on an as-needed basis within sub-acute and long-term care facilities. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up as little or as much work as wanted throughout the week, on weekends and in the afternoons to provide coverage or help out when the census spikes. This is great supplemental work for therapists looking to earn extra money or who want a part-time or flexible schedule. Recent graduates will be considered for these positions, as mentorship and shadowing will be offered. This role offers competitive compensation and work with over 50 different nursing homes.

Job Description

The Physical Therapist (PT) will be responsible for:

  • Supervising the activities of physical therapy assistants
  • Evaluating a Resident's condition and develop an appropriate rehabilitation plan
  • Helping Residents to improve their mobility
  • Relieving resident's pain using exercises, hands-on therapy, stretching, and physical therapy devices
  • Teaching residents how to use physical therapy equipment
  • Helping residents through their tasks and monitor their performance
  • Telling residents what they should anticipate in different stages of their recovery and how to handle each situation
  • Maintaining resident confidence and protects facility operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements
Required Skills
  • Active New York State permanent Physical Therapist license
  • 1+ year of experience working with geriatrics
  • Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge
