About the Opportunity

A New Jersey multi-specialty group is looking to add to an experienced SPD Lead Technician to their staff.  The qualified medical professional in this position will assume responsibility for the activities within the department, including the cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, assembly and sterilization of patient care instruments and equipment.

Job Description

The SPD Lead Technician will be responsible for:

  • Complying with and assisting staff training on the safety and emergency procedures
  • Properly leading staff & consistently advising manager on the status of departmental processes
  • Guiding staff on all methods of sterilization and through compliance with Standard Precautions
  • Controlling the safe processing of instrumentation throughout the Decontamination Process
  • Constantly observing and appropriately instructing staff in the preparation of instrumentation for sterilization
  • Guiding staff through and ensuring compliance with center and regulatory standards for biological monitoring
  • Guiding staff through instrument tray assembly
  • Maintaining proper documentation & record keeping for SPD, CPR certification, and adequate level of supplies of all items in SPD
  • Monitoring and guiding staff through the distribution of sterile supplies
Required Skills
  • 2+ years of prior supervisory experience or 5+ years of SPD experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active certification from (CBSPDP) the Board for SPD certification and IAHCSMM
  • Certification within 3 years of employment
  • Maintain Certification through Departmental Inservices and Educational Programs
  • Obtain Recertification every year/5 years in accordance with the Certifying Agency and NJ State regulations
  • Completion of approved Sterile Processing Technology course required within 2 years of employment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
