$15k Sign-On Retention bonus paid out in 3 installments: 1st after Completion of training (roughly) 6 months or upon hire for relocation, 2nd at the 1.5 year mark and the 3rd at 3 year mark

The POCT Coordinator performs and documents quality control procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with established parameters and standards. The POCT Coordinator works with the Laboratory Leadership and Laboratory Medical Director to resolve quality control, patient or procedural problems and recommends enhancements to laboratory procedures.

The POCT Coordinator is also responsible for providing support and consultation to our clinical and IT partners. The POCT Coordinator will evaluate and validate the latest technology according to regulatory guidelines. The POCT Coordinator ensures quality assurance and regulatory standards are being met for all point of care testing devices as applicable. This role is responsible for providing staff training and education as well as oversight of staff competency.


This position maintains the records for POCT both electronically and manually as applicable. The POCT Coordinator is responsible for aggregating quality metrics, ordering of supplies when needed and performing regulatory quality checks to maintain inspection readiness.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required in medical technology, chemical, physical, biological sciences or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution acceptable to the certifying agency (ASCP)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION Medical Technologist MT/MLS ASCP required. Requires participation in 24 CEUs annually.

EXPERIENCE: Requires two years of experience in non-waive testing in a clinical laboratory hospital setting with quality assurance and/or point of care testing. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire, experience with hospital and ambulatory oversight preferred, incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.


Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Strict compliance with laboratory Fraud and Abuse policies and requirements is an employment condition POCT Coordinator.



Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

This position demands increased amounts of standing, bending and manual manipulation, as well as some light lifting. Must have the ability to distinguish colors.

The department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.

Core competencies will be assessed primarily to the following patient population(s) served (with the exception of newborns): All diagnoses/conditions of patients admitted to the hospital.
