About the Opportunity

A special needs preschool in Yaphank, NY is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their team in a full time role.  This position is from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday working with children ages 3-5 that have various developmental disabilities. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with children in integrated classrooms and is able to work with both higher and lower functioning students. This position will start immediately and last through the remainder of the school year with the possibility to work through the summer program into the following fall. We will consider clinical fellows for this position that have exposure to working in a preschool setting and we can offer supervision. This is a large school with plenty of treatment space and equipment and a very supportive team environment. There is a lot of room to grow and learn in this setting. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for:

  • Helping students access the academic environment and participate to the maximum extent possible in educationally related activities
  • Evaluating and treating students with disabilities
  • Maintaining daily progress and attendance records
  • Writing progress reports
  • Attending IEPs meeting
  • Recommending adaptive equipment, environmental accommodations or assistive technology
  • Providing the best possible quality care to all students
Required Skills
  • 1+ year of Speech Language Pathology experience
  • NYS Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
  • New York State TSSLD 
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skill
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
