A well-known nonprofit organization in New York City is actively seeking a licensed, passionate Physical Therapist (PT) for an ongoing full time position within an adult day habilitation.The ideal Physical Therapist (PT)  should have experience working with the developmentally disabled population. This is an opportunity to work with adults in a team oriented environment 5 days per week, Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 3:30 PM. This position is patient centered and not driven by productivity. Job Description

The Physical Therapist (PT) will:

  • Provide physical therapy evaluation in areas of muscle tone and/or strength, range of motion, reflex patterns, gross motor capacity, posture and joint alignment, patterns of locomotion and/or ambulation, activities of daily living, including transfers and wheelchair management, need for adaptive equipment and recommendations for changes in present equipment
  • Develop a treatment plan and goals based on assessment
  • Ensure individuals receive services appropriate to their needs and consistent with regulatory requirements
  • Select recreational and social activities in order to aid patients in adjusting to their functional level
  • Teach adaptive skills necessary to perform daily living and/or vocational tasks
  • Record progress on all active cases in therapy; monitor therapy status; and, make appropriate recommendations as changes occur
  • Fit adaptive devices for use such as splints or braces
  • Participate in Initial Evaluation and Intake processes
Required Skills
  • 6+ months of Physical Therapy experience (New graduates are welcome!)
  • NYS Physical Therapist (PT) license
  • Experience working with Developmentally Delayed Adults
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
  • Able to multitask efficiently and effectively
