About the Opportunity

A skilled nursing facility in Corning, NY is looking for a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their staff. This position is full time, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and begins immediately. We are either looking for a 13+ week traveler or a temp-to-perm therapist that wants to be in this location long term. The SLP will have the opportunity to work alongside other healthcare professionals in a state-of-the-art building that provides therapy six days per week. We are looking for someone that has at least one year of experience in skilled nursing and long-term care. The ideal SLP is able to work confidently and independently in a fast-paced facility and enjoys working with geriatric patients. We are not considering CFYs at this time.

Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for:

  • Assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and or language deficits
  • Providing direct services to residents including evaluations, individual treatment planning, actual resident treatments and discharge planning
  • Teaching the patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their oral or written language skills to communicate more effectively
  • Teaching individuals how to strengthen muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow without choking or inhaling food or liquid
  • Participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of Speech Pathology
Required Skills
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • 1+ year of Long-term care/Skilled Nursing Facility experience
  • New York State Speech Language Pathologist license and registration
  • CCC
  • Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge
  • Ability to multitask
  • Patient-oriented
