A skilled nursing facility with over 500 beds in Manhattan is looking for a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their growing Rehab team. This position will be a full-time role, Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 5 PM, but there is flexibility surrounding the hours. The facility is in need of someone with at least one year of long term care and skilled nursing experience, so we will not consider Clinical Fellows at this time. Apply today!

Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for:

  • Assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and or language deficits
  • Teaching patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their oral or written language skills to communicate more effectively
  • Teaching individuals how to strengthen muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow without choking or inhaling food or liquid
  • Working within an Interdisciplinary Team to develop a plan of care for each patient
  • Providing skilled speech therapy services and interventions in accordance with physician orders
  • Assessing patient needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies care to meet goals of speech therapy interventions
  • Setting realistic and achievable goals for patients to develop, or recover, reliable communication and swallowing skills so that the patient can fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles
Required Skills
  • 1+ year of experience working with the Adult and Geriatric population
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Permanent NYS Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
  • Previous experience working within a Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care Facility
  • Solid assessment, clinical and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
  • Able to multitask efficiently and effectively
