Wilkes Launches PhD Degree WILKES-BARRE, PENN.—A new doctor of philosophy degree in nursing program has been introduced to Wilkes University in order to meet the ever-growing need for PhD-prepared instructors of nursing. The program is set to begin in the fall 2017 semester, offered in a low-residency format with most classes online to start. As a research-focused degree, the program will be the first of its kind in the Wilkes-Barre area. It’s a 3-year-long program. “It’s a perfect situation for someone who has been a practicing nurse for 20 years and says ‘I want sonethibg else where I can contribute to the profession, but I want to do it another way.I want to educate nurses,’” said Patrick F.
